shotNlust - What is the project about?

Deniz Saylan - I called this series "body brush - ballet" because we can imagine as the body functioned like large brushes. Light and movement are the colors.
Maybe it's also because I have to dance with the camera too. I mimic the movement of the dancers with the camera to get these mixed results between abstract and concrete. And at the end the camera became a brush, too.

The team of dancers were a joint venture between two ballets : The New English Ballet Theater NEBT and The London Royal Ballet.
The ballet pieces were Beethoven Kreutzer Sonata and Philip Glass Orbital - a new piece which had its premiere on 10/10/2013 at the Royal Opera in London. I had the privilege to take pictures until the last rehearsal.

Why I did the photos? I don't know. I have to take them. When I was at the rehearsal, I had this desire to do them. I like ballet and I love the movement. I do not like the traditional pictures of ballet that are normally static. I think ballet movement has something common with one standing and one end. The traditional way to shot a dancer is to choose some point in his process and fix the moment in a single time. But this is only a little part of the whole thing. I tried to compress the whole movement into one image.

shotnlust.com is a visual collection of Art stories:
Photo, Cinema, ShortArt.s, Dance

At the beginning it was the idea of building a small arts library. Then, little by little, the commitment to share it.
Choice, preference, ignorance, evidence, all assumed.
A desire to discover, an encouragement to remember. Sometimes.
